Invisible Protector

Invisible Protector

I have always been fat. My neck could not be seen as a kid. Thanks to my mother who is a fantastic cook! I fell in love with food ever since I was a kid.

Sadly, because of my weight, I was often teased as a kid. I remember being teased at during my rides to school or back home in a school bus. As a child, any form of teasing affected me quite badly. One night as I teared thinking of what the kids in the school bus would do to me the next day, I remembered opening the bible to read before I slept. (Reading the bible was a habit of mine instilled by my mother since I was a child)

In my teary state, I had flipped open the middle of the bible and a single tear drop fell into the book. It fell right above my thumb, directly on to the word ‘cry’. I was taken aback and knew I had to read what the verse said. It was Psalms 6:9 which read: The Lord has heard my cry for mercy, the Lord accepts my prayer.

For that brief moment, I was shocked! How did God know? Well, He is God! At that very moment, I made a conclusion – there must be a God out there! And this God knows me personally! He sees what is going on in my life and is ready to protect and watch over me! A wonderful and comforting sensation filled my whole body and I had a good night’s sleep that night.

The next day, the bullies on the bus suddenly stopped teasing me. They decided to leave me alone for no apparent reason. And that was when I knew, my God had a hand in this. Because he already promised me that he will take care of it in Psalm 6:9.

To this day, I’m comforted to know that there is a higher, almighty being that is looking out for me and has my back. I am confident that nothing in this life is too difficult for me to get through because I have my invisible protector by my side.
